What to expect On-Course

  • You will ride a combination of mostly single track and a little bit of gravel road between stages, with all stages raced on single-track only.

  • At each stage, you will line up for your turn - expect a line. Its good to bring a coat to stay comfortable while waiting.

  • We also attempt to group racers by category for each stage, however, we expect that racers from different categories will start to mix more on later race stages. Be prepared for passing; be patient and courteous as both a passer and a passee.

  • We have fabulous aid stations! However, they may be serving up food and drinks that may not work well for you. They will have water available for topping off bottles, but plan to be self-sufficient so you can be well-prepared for the day.

  • We have amazing volunteers! It is how we are able to put on this race. Thank them often.

Race Rules and Guidelines

  • Racer Spacing on Stages. We will be sending racers off in 30 second increments. This is important for keeping lines reasonable and moving everyone through the course in a timely manner. If there is no line, timers will have discretion to allow extra time between riders as appropriate.

  • Passing. Passing is part of enduro racing so it is helpful to approach the event with that mindset. We will go over passing protocol at the Mandatory Riders Meeting at 8:45 Am on race day. You can also chat with the racers starting the stage with you to get a sense of speed and adjust your order.

  • No Partner/friend/family member ride-alongs. If you need support during the race, please have your support rider obtain permission from race organizers. Permission will only be granted for support riders of Adaptive racers and Youth racers.

  • No Headphones. It is imperative that you hear your surroundings while you are racing so that you can communicate with other racers generally and pass or be passed safely.

  • Helmets at all times. While riding your bike on the race course, you must wear your helmet on your head at all times, including when climbing.

  • No Dogs on Course and Dogs discouraged from the event. While we love dogs, we have had some unpleasant experiences with them disrupting riders on course and in the Staging Area. We strongly encourage you to leave your dog at home. If you must bring your dog, they must be leashed and in YOUR control at all times. This applies to everyone.

Gear List

  • Timing chip: You will get your timing chip when you pick up your race packet. If you pick your race packet up on Friday night DON'T FORGET IT ON SATURDAY!!

  • Hydration and Nutrition: Bring enough water and food to fullfill your own hydration and nutritional needs. We have fabulous aid stations but we don't recommend that you rely on that unless you like bacon and whiskey to fuel your performance. They should have water, but it's gonna be hot and they may run out! There is a creek at the bottom of CCDH that can supply you with cold water if you have a water filter.

  • Basic bike supplies: Tube, plugs, CO2 cartridge or pump, tire levers, multi-tool, master link, etc.

  • Helmet and armor: Helmet, eye-protection, armor/body protection. A Full face helmet is not required but highly recommended.
